Day 3 - The City of Londonium

We started the day by traveling into Liverpool St. and acquiring a coffee.  A good start.  From there we took the Central line tube to St. Paul's to tour the cathedral.  Nothing prepares you for the magnitude of this amazing structure.  Having studied Architecture, I had learned about some of the history of the building; however, being in a space as grand as the nave and the dome was completely overwhelming.  The scale of the space is stupefying, yet beautiful.  This is a must see when coming to London. Photography is not allowed within the cathedral, so no pictures can be shown here.

We ventured up the winding stairs to the Whispering gallery and up to the Stone gallery and then finally up to the Golden gallery outside above the dome.  What a climb! What a view!

From St. Paul's we walked down to the Millennium bridge which gave us some great views back toward the cathedral.

After walking back up to Fleet St. we walked to Convent Garden market where a little shopping was done.  After a late lunch we walked to Trafalgar Square and enjoyed the sunshine with many other tourists.

We finished the days tour of the City of London by taking the tube to Westminster where I walked with Kyra across the Thames so that she could have her picture taken in the exact spot her favourite musical group, One Direction, had their picture taken for an album cover.

We finished the afternoon by taking a boat tour down the Thames to the Tower of London dock where we walked back to the tube to take the train out of the city.  Phew, quite a day.
