Day 19 - Edinburgh

We started the day by driving out to Roslin (in the fog) to take a look around Rosslyn chapel.  A beautiful 15th century chapel with incredibly ornate stonework.  The chapel was made very popular in recent years by being featured in the movie The DaVinci Code.

Leaving Roslin, we returned to the city and parked at a Park & Ride lot and took a city bus into the city center.  We'd been warned against driving by friends and also by hotel staff.  After taking the bus ride into the city I concur with all of the advice.  You'd have to be a wee bit crazy to drive here.

We had a quick bite to eat and then took a City Sightseeing bus tour in an open top double decker bus.  This was a great way to be introduced to the city & it's history. We hopped off at Edinburgh castle and joined a free guided tour to learn about the various buildings in the castle.

The fog continued to roll along the streets all day and as such we abandoned plans to climb Arthur's Seat.  We enjoyed dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe before taking the bus back to the P&R before retiring to our hotel for the evening.

All agree, we plan on returning to Edinburgh another time to better explore the city.  Friday see's us driving to London as we prepare to fly home on Saturday.
