Windows Vista Re-install

logo_vista_1 I’ve been running MS Windows Vista on my primary home PC since May 2007 & after 17 months of continual use, abuse, updating & patching it was time for me to consider ‘refreshing’ the installation.  Of course for those that have been here before this actually means a re-installation of Vista. “No problem” thought I, shouldn’t take that long & the Christmas break was coming so I’ll have time to ‘get ‘er done’.

First things first, I needed a new larger hard-drive as the old drive was nearing the end of its life so I set about ordering up a 500GB SATA drive from Newegg.ca. I’d never used Newegg.ca before.  What can I say, the reviews I’d read on-line were bang on, Fast & accurate processing and quick delivery (even though it was via UPS).

With the new Hard-drive in hand & some time over the holiday’s I set about re-installing MS Windows Vista.  Below is a listing of the steps I undertook complete with handy links to the products I used.  All-in-all things went really well and now I’ve got a much more responsive and more importantly ‘clean’ installation.

  1. Backup old MS Windows Vista installation to MS Windows Home server.
